Gramofonové Závody

Czech record manufacturer, operating under this name between 1948 and 27 October 1999. The company started manufacturing shellac records in 1948 (after nationalization of Ultraphon and ESTA), vinyl records in the Loděnice plant (founded 1951) in 1953, compact cassettes in 1972, CDs in 1988 and DVDs in 2001. Occasionally it also acted as a label in the 1990s. Company renamed to “GZmedia, a.s.” on 27 October 1999, to “GZ Digital Media” on 17 January 2000, and to GZ Media on 1 January 2014.
